Spearheading the design practice at Slalom Consulting I flew to Los Angeles to interview the team at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the group behind the Academy Awards). After doing some ethnographic work with staff, I created wireframes and high fidelity Photoshop mockups for the new intranet system. The design was to align with the brand in eleganance while at the same time pointing toward the future and being economical and clean.
Had a great time in Los Angeles and in the process of interviewing and shadowing the staff users of the system I toured some of the climate controlled rooms at the AMPAS library where they house beautiful old constructivist movie posters from Eastern Europe in the 1920's. The original script for the Wizard of Oz is also there with pencil notes on it. :O !!!
