Symetra is a Fortune 500 financial services company with 20 billion dollars in holdings. Our team at Slalom built an entire intranet for them. I worked as interactive art director and the visual designer, striving for a clean, simple aesthetic which allowed the employees to accomplish their tasks with minimal effort and aligned with the brand across all channels. My goal in interface design is always for economy, balance and to try to make the experience for the employees somehow engaging, even if the tasks are commonplace. We all know how boring time card entry and form manipulation can be. But that doesn't mean the sites need to be painful.
Our well received work on the intranet site won us the chance to do the development on their public site as well.
